Your tank data lives in your private account — never sold, never used to train AI.

Reefr ("we", "us") is a reef-aquarium companion app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Reefr mobile app and our websites.

What we collect

• Account information — your email address and authentication details, handled by our authentication provider so we don't store passwords ourselves.
• Your tank data — the readings, notes, photos, and tank/livestock details you choose to enter. This is the content the app exists to remember for you.
• Crash & error diagnostics — to fix bugs. These are scrubbed of sensitive content (no parameter values, photos, or notes).

What stays private

Everything sensitive stays in your private account: your parameter values, your photos, your tank and livestock specifics, your notes, and anything that identifies you. We don't sell your data, and we never use it to train AI. If we add anonymous usage analytics in future, this content will never enter it — a single internal allow-list enforces that boundary so our disclosures stay honest.

Nemo & AI

Nemo, our in-app companion, only sees your tank when you ask. When you send Nemo a question — or a photo you choose to show it — the relevant tank context and that image are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to answer you. This happens under a zero-data-retention arrangement: the AI provider does not retain your content, and it is never used to train AI models. If you never use Nemo, none of your tank data is sent to the AI provider.

Service providers (subprocessors)

We use trusted providers to run Reefr. Each only processes the data needed for its function:

How long we keep it

We keep your account and tank data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your tank or your account, its data is removed from your account. Anonymous analytics and scrubbed diagnostics are retained only as long as needed to improve the app.

Your choices & rights

• Export — you can export your tank's history at any time.
• Delete — you can delete your tank or your account; deleting removes its data from your account.
• Turn Nemo off — you can disable the AI companion in Settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion). Contact us and we'll help.

Children

Reefr is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
